Fehmarn - Let's go and discover the sunny island!

With more than 2000 hours of sunshine a year, our home island of Fehmarn is also known as the sunshine island for good reason. Fehmarn is the third largest island in Germany and, incidentally, the only Baltic Sea island in the holiday region of Schleswig-Holstein! A total of 78 kilometres of coastline lead you from fine sandy beaches to beautiful natural beaches and impressive cliffs. And: there is plenty to discover around idyllic farms, wide meadows, cycle paths and fishing villages!

Activities - From water sports to cutter trips

Do you fancy doing something? No problem: Fehmarn offers lots of fun activities that you can try out together. For water and landlubbers, on two legs or two wheels, with lots of concentration or just to let off steam!

Bike tours

Bike tours - Once across the island, please.

Fehmarn has a total of 300 kilometres of well-signposted cycle paths and is therefore perfect for a relaxing cycle trip around the island. The east coast cycle path, for example, almost always runs along the coast and offers wonderful views of the sea. The themed routes, such as the harbour tour or the waterfowl reserve tour, are also popular routes for anyone who wants to explore the island on two wheels.

Water sports

Water sports - Versatile and exciting

With its many beaches and stunning coastline, Fehmarn is of course a real water sports paradise. Surfing, kitesurfing, sailing or SUP: everyone will find the right spot for sport and action at sea here. With a total of 17 surf spots and 20 water sports schools, there are also plenty of places to go for beginner or advanced courses. You can also hire the right equipment during your stay on Fehmarn.

Mini golf

Mini golf - With fun and adventure

Fancy a round of minigolf? Then Funtasia Adventure Minigolf is just the thing for you! Located right next to the Burgstaaken marina, a huge boat hall with over 1400 square metres and a spectacular minigolf course awaits you. The courses are lovingly and variedly designed; it goes past water ponds, boulders and so-called bunkers. The game is played with real golf balls and there are, of course, suitable clubs for the little ones.

Playgrounds - Around the island

Fehmarn is a top destination for the whole family. Of course, playgrounds for little adventurers are a must! Swings, slides, digging, romping: you'll find a large selection of them all over the island. For example, have you ever tried the Grüner Brink playground? It is located right by the Baltic Sea and not only offers great play equipment, but also a relaxed atmosphere for the grown-ups to watch the little ones while enjoying a cold drink or coffee. Let's go there!

Golf

Golf - Directly by the sea

The Fehmarn Golf Park offers island golfing with a sea view! Located directly on the Baltic Sea coast, you can play the 18-hole course here against a beautiful backdrop. The various holes are varied and suitable for different levels of difficulty - for beginners or advanced players. Thanks to the climate here on Fehmarn, the course can be played all year round.

Bathing & beaches - Multifaceted beauty

A special feature of Fehmarn is its diverse coastal landscape. Whether wide sandy beaches in the south or rugged cliffs in the east, quiet stretches of beach in the north or a beautiful walk on the beach at sunset in the west: our sunny island has a lot to offer! By the way: the wide sandy beaches at Grüner Brink and Burgtiefe are perfect for families with children. And if you would like to discover the authenticity of the Baltic Sea, take a trip to the natural beaches in Westermarkelsdorf and Marienleuchte.

Of course, you can also explore Fehmarn from the water. Rustic cutter trips depart regularly from Burgstaaken harbour and take you out onto the Baltic Sea, past the beautiful coastline of the sunny island. Let the fresh sea air blow around your ears, keep your nose in the wind and enjoy an endless view of the sea: a great excursion for the whole family!

Fehmarn Sound Bridge

Fehmarn Sound Bridge - Our landmark

Have you ever heard of the longest coat hanger in the world? That's what the Fehmarnsund Bridge, which connects our island with the mainland, is affectionately known as. In fact, it is something of a Fehmarn landmark due to its imposing design. It takes you across the 1.3-kilometre-wide Fehmarn Sound and comprises a two-lane carriageway, a railway line and a footpath.

Weekly market

Weekly market - For strolling and discovering

Fresh fruit, crunchy vegetables, eggs from the farm and flowers as far as the eye can see: farms and traders offer great products from the region at Fehmarn's weekly market. A visit is always worthwhile: whether for a proper purchase or just a stroll through the market.

Galileo world of knowledge - Discover our planet!

Laboratory, museum and playground all in one: The Galileo World of Knowledge on Fehmarn offers hands-on history and science. From the formation of the earth and the time of the dinosaurs to our everyday lives today, you can learn lots of interesting facts about our planet here. With fascinating illusions, experiments and experience simulators, this museum is fun for young and old explorers alike!

Fehmarn Submarine Museum - Just dive in!

What does a submarine actually look like on the inside? This and many other exciting discoveries can be made at the Fehmarn Submarine Museum. A visit takes you inside the submarine and lets many a young and old guest follow in the footsteps of the former crew. From trying out the cramped bunks to a look into the periscope and a tour of the original engine room: there really is a lot to discover here!

Fehmarn Marine Centre

Fehmarn Marine Centre - Our underwater world

Here at the Baltic Sea, (almost) everything revolves around the sea - how about a little dive into the underwater world? The Fehmarn Marine Centre is home to the most colourful and diverse fish the ocean has to offer: from corals and seahorses to rays and sharks. You can marvel at the sea creatures up close in the walk-through underwater tunnel and in the gigantic ocean aquarium.

The dark experiment

The dark experiment - There is "nothing" to see here

The dark experiment takes you on a special kind of exploration tour. Covering a total area of 1,000 square metres, you will go on a walk in the woods, discover a flat, visit a supermarket and wander around the city blindfolded. With the help of a blindfolded touch stick and surrounded by sounds and smells, you will experience everyday things - in the dark. An exciting experience for visitors of all ages.

Hansa Park

Hansa Park - A wild ride!

The Hansa-Park in Sierksdorf near Lübeck is something very special simply because of its direct location on the Baltic Sea. Added to this are the more than 30 attractions and 11 different themed worlds that you can immerse yourself in during a visit. The theme park includes, for example, a water bobsleigh ride, various roller coasters, slides, boat swings and, of course, the Hansa Park Express.

Donkey Park Nessendorf

Donkey Park Nessendorf - For stroking and grooming

At the Donkey & Country Play Farm in Nessendorf, around 6 kilometres from Hohwacht Bay, many curious donkeys welcome you in the summer months. You can stroke and groom the donkeys in the walk-in enclosures. Exciting activities also await you, such as the effects cinema, a wooden combine harvester as a play equipment, the super wave slide and the interactive playground.

The Karl May Festival in Bad Segeberg is a true classic. Every year, the Kalkberg stadium in Bad Segeberg hosts an exciting open-air theatre play based on Karl May's story: with great actors, lots of action and in a beautiful setting. The story of Winnetou takes you on a journey to the Wild West: a great adventure for young and old.

Noah's Ark Zoo

Noah's Ark Zoo - An animal pleasure

Animal fun awaits you at the "Noah's Ark" zoo in Grömitz. In addition to alpacas, kangaroos, llamas and goats, you can discover a whole range of small and large animals here. All kinds of interesting four-legged friends have found a home on a total of 10 hectares. There is also plenty of time to run around, climb and discover in the adventure playground. Meanwhile, older visitors can make themselves comfortable with a cup of coffee and a slice of cake in the Holzhaus restaurant with its sun terrace.
